2016 Strada Grigia - Sweet Love Gravel Grinder

Updated 3/4/16 with old school maps and pic route sheets.

Phil Holman-Hebert is hosting our next event. Details and course maps below.

What: 3rd Annual Strada Grigia
When: Saturday March 5, 2016, 9:00 am
Where: Oskaloosa, KS (Just North of Lawrence)
Why: Two fun "grey roads" routes to pick from.

Come join host Sweetlove Farm for the third Strada Grigia Gravel Road Race/Ride, where we will celebrate the gray roads and landscape of late winter in Jefferson County. We will start at 9:00am on Saturday, March 5th, 2016 from Sweetlove Farm, home of Phil and Sally Holman-Hebert and Kids, and soon-to-be home of Sweetlove Cycles, the new incarnation of what used to be Matfield Cycles. We will be riding the same routes we have for the last two years, with a short course at just over 32 miles and a long course at 58.5 miles. The weather should be decent, the roads dry, and the hills challenging. We look forward to seeing all your faces, familiar and new alike. Sweetlove Farm can be found on the web at www.sweetlovefarm.com where you can find directions to get here, or you can just use a regular old map to find us at 13248 102nd Street, Oskaloosa, Kansas, 66066.

Thanks, Phil

Phil

Power Team Grinder Pictures.

Thank you very much Coach Ruder for your bring us the Power Team Grinder on such a wonder February day!

Picture are up from the old man - 2016 Power Team Grinder Photos

The first 3 miles was on pavement.  A chance to warm-up and enjoy the beginnings of our ride.

A fun course and great weather brought out a large group of gravel grinders today. Team Grip-N-Rip was out in force today.

It was fun talking with many of the riders today.  Smiles on most everyone's face today.  Well at least until we got to Cleveland.  After that the headwind turned our smiles into a painful grimace.

Thank you to my Teammate Damian for pulling my fat arse all the way back.  This was my longest ride of the year and that last hours was pure pain.  I needed the miles so it is all goo.

The 2016 Lake Dabinawa Grinder Recap

Jeff leads the way out on the levee for our ride up to Lake Dabinawa Grinder.  A little chilly and windy at the start but overall a beautiful day to be riding gravel.

Thank you to everyone who came out today.  Very strong turnout and we appreciate it.  Course and conditions were very nice.  I especially liked the easy pace the first 4 miles up on the levee.

Jeff Arnaud is the Man.  He designed the perfect course - first part was a lot of climbing and into a headwind with the return trip everyone got to enjoy a nice tailwind and plenty of fast rolling gravel downhills.  Thanks again for hosting another fun and exciting Lake Dabinawa Grinder Jeff!

Bob Billings was out and recorded some good video of our ride.

Several riders got flats today including yourstruely and Michael Ruder of Power Team Coaching above.

Flats were not the only problem today.  Some riders like my good friend Gerard was just lucky to be riding after his bike fell off his rack. Those Giants sure are tough.
Nice to see so many smiling faces out today especially from our Women's Free State Racing team.

LeLan Dains of DK200 enjoying the ride back south.  Thanks for coming out and supporting our rides LeLan.  You Rock!

We got some good photos from todays ride.  Check them all out - 2016 Lake Dabinawa Grinder Photos
